With real live recorded sounds from multiple cities across the US laid underneath its modern jazz & r&b influenced compositions, bluelight aims with its debut EP to recreate the sensation one feels when in the thick of it. And sometimes the thick sounds good...

Sometimes the city throws everything at you, beats you down, makes a mess. And sometimes, the city might surprise you with unexpected beauty in unlikely corners.

Most often, the combination of a few seemingly random city offerings will create a whole new sound. The juxtaposition of unrelated elements interact to form a unique, fleeting, and wonderful moment of art in an otherwise hardened and difficult world.

With Phil's compositions, bluelight explores themes of joy, naiveté, anxiety, innocence, loneliness, restlessness, new love, old habits -- all against a backdrop of the perennial, impossibly large, and surprisingly musical "big city."
